

Laverne
Kindred Brown is a graduate of the Owensboro-Daviess County School of Nursing, Murray State University and the University of Alabama Birmingham
with a masters degree in Maternal-Child Nursing and clinical certification in women's
health.
As a nurse-practitioner, she was devoted to women's health education and
advocacy of women and children. She was instrumental in creating the
area's first spouse abuse center and the first organization that provided
in-school education, sexual abuse examinations and advocacy for sexually abused
children.
She was an educator and
chairperson of the Department of Nursing at the at the University of Kentucky's
Paducah Community College. She was Vice President of Nursing and Vice
President of Operations at Western Baptist Hospital where she co-created the
nation's largest Women's Health Conference and Children's Health Fair.
Ms. Brown is the President of Women's Words, Inc. a non-profit organization created for the purpose of generating donations to local charities through the sale of women-authored books and other artistic renderings.
